Islamorada
Words and Music by Ron Tintner, ASCAP ©2018
I grew up in Islamorada
Livin’ the island life
Days at the beach, fishin' the reefs
Sleepin’ in a hammock at night
When I got older, my friends moved away
To find real jobs, that paid real pay
But I couldn't do it, I somehow scraped through
And here on this island I stayed
CHORUS:
200 miles from Cuba
Sittin’ at the top of the Keys
The warm blue waters of Islamorada
Will always be home to me
Barnacle Joe’s finally closed
Where we used to go for bait and gear
And the Ice Cream Shack down near Pelican Cove
Got bought out late last year
The beaches are covered with people all day,
‘Less a hurricane comes, and scares ‘em away
But there’s still a few places nobody knows
For me to escape
CHORUS
INST BREAK
BRIDGE:
After so many years and tourists
Things are bound to change a bit
But the island vibe is still alive
And I’ll never get tired of it
