ONLY A KISS
Tommy dressed up like Errol Flynn
Strutted around the seaside town
Julie thought the world of him
She never wanted to put him down
There's a voice saying 'why d'ya do it?'
There's a reply 'I don't know'
There's a man doing something he shouldn't
There's a woman taking money
'Hey, what the hell is this?'
'I can explain', he said
'That it's only a kiss
Only, only, only, only a kiss'
Then by chance as she walked back
From the picture palace one night
There was Tommy, lipstick on his cheek
Plain as day in the cool moonlight
There's a voice saying 'why d'ya do it?'
There's a reply 'I don't know'
There's a man doing something he shouldn't
There's a woman taking money
'Hey, what the hell is this?'
'I can explain', he said
'That it's only a kiss
Only, only, only, only a kiss'
What a silence the shame would bring
Back to back in the bed all week
Julie read her romance books
And Tommy went into a deep, deep sleep
Nothing was said about it again
There was no need to because
Every time intermittent circumstances arose
There it was
There's a voice saying 'why d'ya do it?'
There's a reply 'I don't know'
There's a man doing something he shouldn't
There's a woman taking money
'Hey, what the hell is this?'
'I can explain', he said
'That it's only a kiss
Only, only, only, only a kiss'
