Story behind the song
The music was originally written as a song from Universal Beat Embassy in 2001. The song was called "Slowboat to 80". The song never seemed quite finished. Jenny wrote and sang some fantastic lyrics to the song in early 2004. After about 2 and 1/2 years the song is finally complete and reborn as Neo-Hedonist.
Lyrics
NEO HEDONIST I had… It was mid-February There is more color at night these days. The pipes keep tap, tap, tapping It make me think of rain, rain makes me think of you. And I turn in Just keep your eyes closed babe… I had a dream and you were in it. It was the end of the world But we kept playing ‘cuz we knew There’s a lot more road between here and Chile. It seems there’s more color at night these days… Back at the pool tables, it was the right shot Just a few years off cue. Racking up time… I’m trying to figure this out. Rackin up time Trying to figure out just what to do about you. And if this wasn’t made of matches I wouldn’t worry about Rubbing this the wrong way. I had a dream and you were in it We were walking to the light And we kept playing ‘cuz we knew There’s a lot more road between here and Chile. And yes there’s room in my car But if you want to ride with me They will never let us back But that’s okay because we’re neo-hedonists. Is is okay to be neo-hedonists?
