This track started off as a decadent piano lullaby and now features a slightly contemporary beat with eery vocal sounds and a nice bit o' guitar.
Kyra Bernice wrote this song back in 1992 on her piano and had the main structure nicely planned out but lack of equipment (the good ole' days) meant that the song could be nothing more until much later that is, when Kyra joined a writing band, "Common People" and decided to record a full production of it. Happy with the song, a co-production album was pressed. After the band went their seperate ways, Kyra decided to record her own album and wanted to make Dead Girl more to her own style so again, re-recorded it. The current sound is much more fitting with todays market but would most definitely be described as something not heard before. The song is free to be broken down and adapted anyway the listener pleases - this has been commented as one of the intreguing and addictive things about it. Of course, there are much deeper meanings to the song - can you figure it out? I can't!
Soft vocals morph into powerful head-screwing notes that won't leave you for days!
Dead Girl On Earth
Down a dose
Up a flash
Peel the rose
Feel the crash
Drink that
Smell this
Feel life
Can’t miss
You think
You’re a curse
You think you’re a curse
Ooh Dead girl on earth
Ooh Dead girl on earth
Hear the sound of pain
Numb your soul there’s no strain
You can’t see it but you love it
You think you’re a curse
You think you’re a curse
Ooh Dead girl on earth
Ooh Dead girl on earth
(She’s just a dead - dead girl on earth)
Something’s wrong cos’ something’s right
If I’m real tell me what died tonight
Something’s wrong cos’ something’s right
If I’m real tell me what died tonight
(Dead - dead girl on earth)
So I say
Down a dose
Up a flash
Peel the rose
Feel the crash
Take me from here
Taste my one tear
You think you’re a curse
You think you’re a curse
Ooh Dead girl on earth
(She’s just a dead - dead girl on earth)
Chorus
(Dead-dead girl on earth)
So I say
Dead girl on earth
She’s just a dead girl
Dead girl on earth
Mmnn
(She’s just a dead girl – on earth)
