Story behind the song
She was my friend, Roberta Barrett. I was there when she passed. I told her that I'd never forget her and that I shant. I wrote this song in her memory, as she was a vibrant woman who struggled in a 'mans' world yet she never backed down when she knew she was right. She always had my respect.
Lyrics
Bobbie, Light A Candle
__________________________
...Bobbie, light a candle
it's too dark in this room
I can barely tell if that is you...
...Bobbie, light a candle
show me where you are
I must have slept while you passed through the door...
Candles on the distant shore
are fading from the view
and in the wide asunder, Bobbie
maybe one is you...
...Bobbie, is it night time
or have I closed my eyes
I stumble through the pictures in my mind...
...Minutes are a lifetime
when memories don't fade
I'm haunted by the vision of your face...
Candles on the distant shore
are fading from the view
and in the wide asunder, Bobbie
maybe one is you...
Candles on the distant shore
are fading from the view
but sometimes in the distant thunder
I swear I hear you...*
