Story behind the song
I had to think long and hard before posting this one here. It's the first song I have recorded in 15 years and to make matters worse, I'm not a singer! This one came about as result of a songwriting challenge we recently held in our songwriters forum. Each person had to incorporate 5 randomly chosen words and the 5 sentences made out of those words into their song. Thus, the reason you will be hearing me sing about my 'ex'wife'. LOL Because of the word 'ex-wife' I wrote the song for male vocals but ultimately got roped into singing it myself in the challenge. But me singing it is just for fun, it will later be recorded by a friend of mine, at which time my version will be replaced with his.

No Fool Like An Old Fool © 2010 Lyrics/Music/Vocals: Sara Bloodworth Verse I I started writing country songs as a hobby This lead to me wanting to sing So I bought me some fancy equipment Was gonna make me a stack of money But it didn’t take long to discover My songs aren’t gonna make me a dime They say it’s nothing to do with my music I’m apparently past my prime Chorus I’m too old to boogie I don’t know how to scoot I like wearing cowboy hats and my cowboy boots I like fiddles in my music and pedal steel guitar I like old fashioned do-si-do's and yelling out yee haw I thought I could bring back that good country sound Make country music once again what makes the world go round But none of this is country now and not considered cool Guess there’s no fool like an old fool Verse II I thought I would become rich and famous I thought it was just a matter of time So with maximum precision I practiced On that old beat up guitar of mine Word got around what I was doing And my ex-wife showed up at my door I ran faster than a streak of lightening More alimony’s all my future had in store Chorus I’m too old to boogie I don’t know how to scoot I like wearing cowboy hats and my cowboy boots I like fiddles in my music and pedal steel guitar I like old fashioned do-si-do’s and yelling out yee haw I thought I could bring back that good country sound Make country music once again what makes the world go round But none of this is country now and not considered cool Guess there’s no fool like an old fool Tag: Guess there’s no fool like an old fool
