Bluesy acoustic tune about the way a dog approaches the world as compared to people
This is a song co-written with my uncle Mike Pfeifer, my dad, and me. The song started as a poem written by my Uncle Mike about his dog. My dad and I wrote the music and added a chorus section
If a man walks a dog walk for a mile and a half
and then they turn around and walk back home,
The man calculates how many miles they have strolled
the dog runs into the yard and finds a bone.
That's all that matters, that's all that matters,
it's a dog's life.
When you're conversing with a man pay attention to the words
but take it all with a grain of sand,
When a dog meets a dog the nose tells no lies
and they both know exactly where they stand.
That's all that matters , that's all that matters,
it's a dog's life.
My life, is getting complicated,
Seems like, I'm feeling more frustrated,
Can't wait, to take another holiday.
With the more I look around,
This whole world get's me down,
I want to just fly away,
'Cause noth'in matters,
noth'in matters it's a dog's life.
Just a domesticated wolf with carnivore teeth
and a wary disposition toward the world
but he's faithful to the end, he’s always ready to defend
and he’s good at attracting handsome men
That's all that matters, that's all that matters
it's a dog's life
Loose your job, loose your home and you're bound to roam
in search of food and some shelter free of hassles,
Your friends might all disappear but your dog stays near
or him bridges are no different than castles
That's all that matters, that's all that matters
it's a dog's life
My life, is getting complicated,
Seems like, I'm feeling more frustrated,
Can't wait, to take another holiday.
With the more I look around,
This whole world get's me down,
I want to just fly away,
'Cause noth'in matters,
noth'in matters it's a dog's life.
