When I attended the 2010 session of the Singing School at Abilene Christian University, I enrolled in a song writing class. Our assignment at the beginning of the week was to write a three or four line poem. Using the principles we learned in Harmony Class along with new material in this class on meter, rhyme, and other things that make for singable lyrics, we were to shape our poem into a song. All of the beautiful singing during that week of singing school made me think of where beauty comes from. All of the goodness and beauty in the world comes from the Lord who created it all. He is the very definition of beauty. As a result, the words to the first line of this poem just came naturally to me. This song is the result of the song writing project for that class. - http://singingschool.org
Beautiful you are to me
Wounded hands are bleeding free
Healing hands they set me free
Beautiful you are to me
Wonderful you are to me
Tearful eyes my wounds you see
Seeing eyes my soul you see
Wonderful you are to me
Chorus:
Beautiful! Beautiful! my Lord
Wonderful! Wonderful! my Friend!
O your hands! O your eyes! O your heart!
Beautiful wonderful are you Lord
Marvelous you are to me
Broken heart broken for me
Risen heart from death set free
Marvelous you are to me
