Wes wrote lyrics and father wrote chorus
Wes always wanted to work with his dad in music growing up. In 2003, Wes had that very opportunity. His father came up with the story for Lonely at the Top 30 years ago. In 2003, while working on his first Demo to take to Nashville, Tn, Wes contacted his dad and asked if he would work on a rewrite for a studio project. His dad was all for the idea and flattered by his son's enthusiasm. Wes sat down and thought about the lonely road he himself had been on for many years trying to break into the music business. Both father & son had crossed feelings about what "making it" really meant in regards to the price those who travel up the mountain of success in the music industry. For most, it's a lonely road paved with heartache, pain, tears and sacrifice but it does not have to be Lonely at the top.
