A song I wrote about the relationship I had with my Father who passed away two years ago. Banjo and vocals only.
I started messing around on my Banjo and the lyrics just happened. It took about 10 minutes to complete the music and write the words. I decided to record it on my iPhone to get the raw idea down. The recording turned out good but it was a bit too clean. I wanted an old timey sound so I record some noise to make it bit more rustic sounding. There is excessive Banjo riffing but I decided to keep it cause it felt right.
when I was a baby
bouncing on my daddy's knee
my daddy said someday this is gonna be yours
as far as your eye can see
Mmm Hmm!
as far as your eyes can see
Mmm Hmm!
as far as your eyes can see
couldn't grow nothing but rocks
sage brush and misery
I left the farm
but I took the lessons my daddy gave to me
he gave to me
Mmm Hmm!
he gave to em
My daddy died before he got to see
that I've done the best I could with
the lessons he taught to me
Mmm Hmm!
the lessons he taught to me
I loved my daddy
and I know that he knew
and I won't forget the things he taught me
I know what I gotta do
to be a man
I know what I gotta do
to be a man
I know what I gotta do
