Story behind the song
Oddly enough, the inspiration for this song wasn't some night of pining for a girl after getting smashed. It was the Leonid meteor shower back in '99 I believe. Didn't see to many meteors that night (too much light pollution) but the experience still left me in a kind of meditative mood.
So I went home and banged out this thing. Again, it was just one pass on the piano so warts stayed with the final version. Listening back, it reminded me of some slightly tipsy (or maybe flat out blasted) Romeo trying to serenade his sweetie, inadvertently offering both humor and sentiment in one pass.
