Story behind the song
Justify (Calo, Big Boy Soul) Recorded at: Bad Ass Sound Studios With: Big Boy Soul Contribution: bass, backing vocals How: Jay Dee Supernatural Custom bass through DI This was the first song that I learnt for the Big Boy Soul project and remains one of my all time favourites. Steve Calo, the energy behind the band, always gave me the freedom to play whatever was in my heart, and as such I always enjoyed every minute I had with this lineup. My goal in writing the bass line for Justify was to provide a rhythmic foundation without intruding on the great vocal harmonies of the singers. I recorded my bass part along with Mick Fink playing an electronic drum kit, with Steve Calo playing guide guitar. I also added the high vocal harmony much later in the recording's evolution. Sadly, Justify was never released, so this recording is actually a work in progress version from 2003.
