STEPHEN AND THE KING by Fleaster
=========================
It’s the dark of winter , and deep goes the splinter/ inter my side, far back as I remember/ I miss ya, baby brother but we/ had never met save seen through the drips of an IV/ it seems like a dream three days like Christ/ but where He rose from death you departed this life/ and now no act of mine could bring you back again/ or even comprehend what God had in plan/
To have the time again would keep me from wondering/ How things would be if you had kept on living/
Now we’re frozen in daydreams soon forgotten/ no more rides on bikes or long swims in the ocean/
Hearts got broken mum n dad’s only son/ Though I barely stopped teethin livin two lives in one/
Learned to overcome when moods came undone/ And harsh words came close enough to pack a punch/16
If I could share my lunch with you we’d talk at school/ and we’d share our blues keepin ourselves amused/
Takin a backwards view we’d pass afternoons/ bustin bboy moves while watchin past cartoons/
We’d have a knack for tunes and be a practised crew/ Writin rhymes on pads between trips to zoos/
If I had to choose then I would choose again/ I wish you’d met my wife and became my best man/24
I would jump at the chance to reverse circumstance/ Reverse time to prevent certain incidents/
Some events though I would never ever change/ Like the time I met Christ and got amazed by grace/
And now from place to place, I seek to speak of His splendour/ and reach some peeps that keep missing the picture/ There is an elixir tho, hope for the hopeless/ Little bro, I hope that you’ll know/
That your hands and heart tho tiny they’re not your own/ They were shaped by a King who came down from His throne/ And from dust made bones and flesh gave living breath/ By empty tomb and blood return to Him His wish/ I don’t know if you knew Him but I know He knew you/ He went through hell so we could be in heaven, and that’s truth/ Now no attribute could make Him love us any less/ Though when it comes to doing good we’re less than useless/
the point is though you barely lived to draw breath/ I know the King’s character and I trust in His Judgement/ If we met, in heaven or not that be His will/ I’ll still love the King, and I know He loved you… /
