Lights flickering down into murky depths
progressive atmospheric electronic music
Story behind the song
The slightly more upbeat response to 'She is Drowning.' The visual in my mind at the time was of light flickering down into dark, murky depths.
The song itself began as an improvisation using an old drawbar organ module some time ago, processed all to hell through various filters and effects. Sounded great but never could decide what to do next. While wrapping up the other tunes for the CD this one came back from the ol' memory banks and I started playing around with it once more. Still essentially the improv with slight bits of texture added (especially in the second half).
There is a piano line that creeps in midway through the song, just after the climax and lingering until the end. The line was originally recorded via MIDI and needed to be converted into audio for the mixdown. While listening to the track alone during conversion, it sounded really cool on it's own. Ultimately I left that part in the song, but went back afterwards and did a second piano improv over the same section, then pulled it out and saved it as a second song. That ended up becoming the album opener 'Sleepwalker.'
Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool at least...
