Story behind the song
i wrote this on december 30th, 2003 as i was thinking about new years eve the next day and what i was going to be doing and then just looking back at the year. i'm not sure if it shows.

across the room, across the street let's run through puddles so our feet'll get wet I know the rest. we'll pass the test proving to all those kids that made those bets we'll be lying, you know the truth i call you only because you took too long what can i do? i'll write a song and you'll tell me that all the notes were wrong i can't find a reason to complain maybe we'll find another kind of rain besides the one that's losing the words on this paper besides the one that's dry just one day later this afternoon i read a book it said that all good things are gonna end i told a friend, but she's read it now i feel like the words i say are bred so i drank tonight, you know the truth but you're not home to say "i love you too" this may be old or this may be new but i think we know it's gonna happen soon i can see a rainbow is turning blue i hope you're seeing it out your window too mine's a portrait hanging through broken glass you can see it next time, i know it's not the last i've got a secret i'm too scared to tell you it's about a thing i know you've done too just please stay and say the rain will end soon until then my only secret will be you
