This is a fairly straight forward with a nice guitar riff named after the magazine.
Somewhere around the turn of the century I noticed a lot of famous people & (not very talented) celebrities who seemed to be famous for being pretty, or by being (pretty) stupid. Since I had the main riff & a TV, the song pretty much wrote it self. I added the punch line (I see me) to make it less of a finger pointing song & because it's a little true for all of us, isn't it?
PEOPLE
Everybody's famous - everyone's a star
But you best remeber who made you what you are
Chorus: People, People, I've seen them all in People
Up there smilin' & still they're always whinin'
I see them, I see them - close up, close up
Who's been doin' rehab - who's been doin' who?
Doesn't really maytter if it's even true
Chorus
All the psyco-drama - all the angst & pain
If everyone's a victim then nobody's to blame
Chorus
Standing in the shadows - waiting in the wings
Just to be in their shoes we'd give everything
Chorus
Yes I see them, I see them - close up, close up
I see me
