Story behind the song
In Your Hands (Calo, Moneek's Red Lounge) Recorded at: The Sonic Factory With: Moneek's Red Lounge for the In Your Hands EP Contribution: bass, backing vocals How: Warwick Streamer Jazzman bass: Full miked Eden World Tour rig plus DI. Recorded with the drums in a large room. MM pickup bias, selector top position. Written by Steve Calo and then worked by the whole band into the final arrangement. This was one of favourite songs to play with this band, and it always received a good live reaction. My bass has a better top end tone here in comparison to the rest of the EP. The fills and runs that I play here were worked out in advance and were played identically on each of the two or three takes that we recorded for this song. The chorus of In Your Hands consists of a cycle of the same two chords (A and Bm). My idea was to shift the bass around the different degrees of the scale in order to imply more chords than were actually being played. I added the descending backing vocals for the chorus at a later date.
