A song about how time seems to go by faster, the older you get
Inspired by Bob Segars "Like a rock," it does seem to me the older you get, the faster time goes by. I wrote this about 10 years ago, now I'm 52. Lyrics do not reflect my personal philosophy though. I love every day & try to live every day to the fullest. God is good! Life is good, at every age!
Blink of an Eye
(by John K. Wilson, all rights reserved)
Once upon a time was it yesterday or long ago
I was so young & strong & sure I knew which way to go
I had all the answers or at least I sure thought so
I was in my prime, yeah I was in my prime
I didn't realize my life would go so fast
I didn't understand I'd need to make each moment last
I didn't know 20 years could fly right past
In the blink of an eye, in the blink of an eye
In the blink of an eye my life has gone so fast
In the blink of an eye all my tomorrows are in the past
I wish I'd made them last
How do you make them last
My life just happened while I was busy making other plans
I don't have the answers anymore & it's too late for me to make a stand
I woke up one morning and realized I was an old man, I was an old man
Too many of my tomorrows turned into empty yesterdays
Precious time slipped through my fingers & I don't know what to say
I only wish I'd known my life would disappear this way
In the blink of an eye, in the blink of an eye
In the blink of an eye my life has gone so fast
In the blink of an eye all my tomorrows are past
In the blink of an eye my life has gone so fast
In the blink of an eye all my tomorrows are past
It slipped right out of my grasp
I wish I knew how to make them last
Time is not linear
It's log rhythmic
Tempus fugit
Bye bye bye bye
Do you love life
Then do not waste time
For that is the stuff that life is made of
