A song about a lost love who keeps screwing up her life after screwing up mine. My first "heavy" production! I play and sing everything except the drum machine and pattern bass.

Story behind the song
It's about someone who thinks she is searching for herself but cannot see that she is defined by her relationships as much as by her expectations of life. The search is conducted using popular psychology books of the Venus & Mars ilk. Since she pays no care to her relationships, they founder and she is unhappy. This is not based on anyone in particular but I've known a few people like that.
Lyrics
I know how you shut me out of your life I know how you cut me And left me to die You went looking for pipedreams Looking for lies In a search for salvation Or some imitation You think you could live with Like life’s second prize You were all-out Closed-down Searching for you It gives me no pleasure It gives me no pleasure It gives me no pleasure To see you so blue Some need a mirror To know who they are Some need the flatterers Hitched to their star You just never wanted To be found out for just what you are Though you don’t know yourself But you can’t find the answers With just a fixed smile and a library card And now as I see you Wrapped up in blue Life and love equally A mystery to you You think that the answers That will get you through Lie inside, but you don’t realise That the key to your life’s In letting someone in there with you
