Musically and lyrically a homage to early rock'n'roll - mainly influenced by Bo Diddley, Big Bopper, Jerry Lee Lewis, and a bit of Sam Cooke. I play everything except drum machine.

I delved into my ancient personal history for the inspiration for this one. This song came out of my feelings for a generously-endowed, very attractive lady who I felt was rather out of my league. As it turned out, I did pluck up the courage to ask her out but, in the course of a brief fling, it turned out we had little in common. I scribbled down the first few lines of this song at the time and revisited it last month when I rewrote and finished it. My lyrics usually veer wildly between highly-crafted imagery and ultra-simple rock'n'roll - this is one of the simple ones!
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
I got no love
No mind
No heart
No dice
No charisma, no appetite,
You're looking oh so nice
But I got no head for heights
You make me nervous
You make me nervous
You make me nervous
I stutter and I stammer
And my heart beats like a hammer
You make me nervous
I got wet hands
Cold feet
I'm short of breath
And it ain't so sweet
I got no funds
No fight
I try to say I love you
But I just can't get it right
You make me nervous . . .
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
Shake, shake, shakin' in my boots now
First I shoot the right one
Then I shoot the other foot
You make me nervous
