THE OUTLAW SONG
Saddle my horse and bring me my gun.
The law's on my tail and I'm on the run.
The life of an outlaw is a hard one at that.
I make my home where I hang my hat.
Had me a wife, her name was Roxann.
We had a spread down in Tucsan.
With two healthy boys and a lovely young girl.
We called her sweet sweet Calisa.
And together we made up the lazy x brand.
Proud that we made a stand.
Then along came a man from the railroad who said,
Sell or be run off your land.
Fight as we could, we lost all we had,
Sept a hate that I couldn't hide.
Now there's six wooden notches carved on my gun,
And six railroad men who have died.
Now I know it's not right to take another man's life,
And it bothers me some I must say.
But they took all I had and turned a good man bad.
Now there's hell to pay.
