The story is pretty much true and prophetic all at once. At some point in the early '90s dad and I had finished a brake job on one of our cars and we were taking it for a test drive. We stopped to change drivers and heard a THWUUMP to our right. A pump island at the gas station had burst into flames and there was a fire alarm box right at the corner 30 feet from where we had stopped. It was clear that nobody had been hurt and the fire was being contained by a extinguisher safety system. We ran to the fire box and dad pulls it, and says with a big smile "I've always wanted to do that since I was a little kid!" He was as excited as his grandson, my son Max gets when he sees a fire engine.
