Story behind the song
Started this one about four years ago as a personal reflection, but never really tightened it up for music, though I did have a rough melody in mind for it. Bob Blackshear, did and fabulous job in assisting on making this song what it is now.
Lyrics
Sown BY Faith David Smith & Bob Blackshear Vs. 1 When I think back on those old dirt fields, Where I grew up that my father tilled, I still recall like it was yesterday, There on that old porch swing, hearing momma say . Vs. 2 Your dad worked hard by the sweat of his brow With a stubborn mule and a heavy plow. And at quittin' time his ole feet sure hurt. Still he'd plant that field a'workin' that red dirt. Chorus:1 That old field of stone was sown with love. He thanked the Lord, Who reigns from above. He lived each day by God's enabling grace, For that field of stone, son was sown by faith. Vs. 3 When I think about those threadbare clothes, Those patched up jeans that my momma sewed, That sweet memory echos through my head. For dad's field of stone was like her needle and thread. Chorus: 2 For those clothes she sewed were sown with love. She thanked the Lord, Who reigns from above. She lived each day by God's enabling grace, For those threadbare clothes, they were sewn by faith Tag: Like that field of stone, they were sewn by faith.
