a minor chord acoustic rock-anthem that kicks some serious ass
Citizen of the Road is about a disillusioned truck driver who has been on the road far too long from coast to coast. The lyrics are all thoughts that come to him through his inner monologue. He reflects back on the life that his led him to being behind the wheel and is tired of it. This leads him to crash his rig at the end of the song.
Broken dreams, wornout holes,
had the talent, but not the toll,
looking at myself in the mirror.
Thought I had it, lost it along the way,
didnt want it, what can i say,
how the hell did I get here?
Chorus:
But I never did what momma told,
gotta price but i've never been sold,
got two hands but I'll never fold,
guess I'm just a citizen,
citizen of the road.
Dirty road, bloody hands,
forced to work it off for the man,
should have never saved my soul.
In a cage, got no key,
18-wheeler, endless sea,
I'm gonna go, out of control.
Chorus
Push the pedal, to 125
which is better, dead or alive?
this just ain't what I had planned.
Here it comes, there I go,
lights off, kitchens closed,
next stop, I dont know....
Chorus
