Story behind the song
My mom taught me to play the only 2 chords she knew and how to sing harmony with her when I was 12. This was one of the first songs I ever wrote, and I am working on finishing it. It was mixed by Wes at http://www.milestone-studios.com/ I am very happy with the work and the communication from Wes and this studio, and would recommend contacting him if you need work done, Thanks Wes
Lyrics
THIS OLD GUITAR Letha Allen 1986 It doesnt sound as good As it did when it was new Not as good in my hands As it sounded coming from you But when I play this old guitar, I close my eyes and there we are This old guitar, and me and momma we sing Now the frets theyre some wore down Like the varnish on the neck The Gibsons hard to read A crack runs down the back But when this old guitar I play It takes me back to those sweet days This old guitar and me and momma still sing Chorus: This old guitar Sings a sweet song Melody Of days now past and gone Strum a chord On this old guitar Close my eyes and me and momma sing again Let the sweet sweet music Soothe my soul Chorus: This old guitar Sings a sweet song A melody Of days now past and gone Strum a chord On this old guitar Close my eyes and me and momma sing again I close my eyes, and me and momma sing again
