Story behind the song
I started writing this song only to learn two of my family members would be diagnosed with cancer before I even got finished- It was very hard to finish but I did and dedicate it to my Dad (JG) and sister-in-law (Debbie)- God bless you both
Lyrics
God, I Know You're Here ©2009 V1 The doctors said six months maybe even one or two The chemo didn't work, nothing else they could do We wrapped our arms together and walked out in disbelief Emptiness filled our hearts and our world sank into grief V2 We drove to the sitters for our daughter and son And I heard you whisper "why me Lord, what have I done" When we got home I said "I need to go back to town" Walked in the church said "God I'm here" and my knees went down Chorus God, I know you're here Looking down on me Don't take her away God, I need her to stay She means the world to me The heartbeat of this family God, I know you're here Looking down on me V3 It was a long, hard struggle that brought us here But we never gave up, our dreams were clear Last Sunday after church we went out for a drive Been five years now and our baby girl is still alive Chorus God, I know you're here Looking down on me You didn't take her away And she's here to stay She still means the world to me Thank you for my family God, I know you're here Looking down on me
