Story behind the song
Based on an experience that I had years ago. A truly empty moment in my life.
Lyrics
The night we had was magic on the cool grass in the park And I thought I saw everything as we rolled in the dark And it was perfectly clear that night when she said what she said But I lingered in the moment and followed where she led When she said " A single night together, we can avoid the stormy weather. When there's no commitment there's no pain." And in the morning she was gone, and I knew those words were wrong As I just laid there listening to the rain I can still remember the smell of her perfume and the sultry little smile she wore as she walked across the room Her touch was irresistable there was nothing I could do And the way she said the right things makes me wonder how she knew Oh but everything seemed fine as she poured a glass of wine Saying " Pleasure doesn't need to wear a chain." So I made up my mind, never thinking I was blind And now I lay here listening...to the rain.
