A very personal song about a time in my life I can barely even remember now.
Story behind the song
One of the very first songs I ever recorded. I was about 18 years old. I had only two crappy tape decks to bounce each insttrument back and forth, so the quality is terrible!
Lyrics
I watched a child grow up
So withdrawn, so afraid of rejection
It seems that someone had the nerve
To teach this child, so young, he wasn’t worth attention
Fall in love with every one he'd meet
Fall down at their feet when he grew older
Their wish was his command
He'd take them by the hand, they'd turn their shoulder
CHORUS:
So he hid inside a fantasy, talk with Kings and Queens
And be inspired
Alone at night he'd have the nerve to fight
And a spark inside turned to fire
And this fire grew so hot
He'd been told "you're not supposed to feel it"
Slapped and laughed at in the face this fire inside it burned with rage
He couldn't deal with it
REPEAT CHORUS
