Song about Jamaica
My wife's mother passed away and we went down for the funeral. Some of these ideas came to me as a result of that visit.
quiet tears shed in jamaica
nine night seems to ease the pain
mother lost before her time
seems to happen all the time
rice and peas and curry goat
wine and beer and rum to boot
songs of faith and songs of hope
recall a life that's been cut short
brick by brick
stone by stone
foundations rise
above the ground
some minds wonder what could be
weather's fine but health care lacks
we can never get them back
like dominoes laid on a track
they soon fall into a crack
rivers flow to the sea
mountains rise above the land
Sand slips between our fingers
and we try to understand
tick by tick time goes by
no one knows the reason why
paradise is at our heals
this is not our last meal
quiet tears fall for jamaica
public face is paradise
reality holds no dice
everyone will pay the price
quiet tears shed in jamaica
nine night seems to ease the pain
mother lost before her time
seems to happen all the time
rice and peas and curry goat
wine and beer and rum to boot
songs of faith and songs of hope
recall a life that's been cut short
quiet tears shed in jamaica (repeat
