Story behind the song
Don't remember how she got my name, but I received several sheets of lyrics from a woman in New Orleans, her hope being I'd make recordings from them. Of the batch, only one really grabbed me. I did a little re-writing to make it fit with the music I'd come up with, and the idea I had for the song. I thought it was the best thing I'd written (a friend of mine still thinks it is), but it was totally different than the country sounding thing she had in mind. She sent me a cassette of her singing it how she thought it should be, so I gave her contact info for a couple of places that would demo it for her the way she envisioned it. Haven't heard from her since I can't remember when, so don't know if she ever got what she wanted. I was so bummed out about it, I quit playing it shortly after that.
