When Jesus states that 'blessed are' those who follow and love Him, His promises have much comfort and guidance. We truly have been blessed by the King of all Kings.

When God walked this world in the form of a man, He communicated to humankind all areas of life in which we should focus and be aware. These areas include: warnings against temptation; lives of purity; laws of importance; areas of mercy; acts of forgiveness; warranted expectations; tactics of the enemy; reality of our sinfulness; deceptions to watch out for; correct perspective on the afterlife; interaction with one another; what is true and what is false; special blessings from God; special woes from God and much, much more. This was not a case of "do as I say, but not as I do" since Christ Himself perfectly demonstrated and fully lived every word or command spoken by Himself! Even His detractors admitted He spoke and acted as one with authority, not as one from His meager and humble upbringing. Every facet of Christ demands that we take His word extremely serious. His perfect life and acts of divinity shout-out that we must believe Him to be who He claims to be!
Although God does rebuke, correct and admonish, He also instructs, commends and bestows His blessings upon the faithful. His gentle blessings were given at various times and places... spoken to both large crowds and also to His beloved small, intimate inner circle. The term "beatitudes" comes from the Latin term "beatus" which is a translation from the Greek word "makarioi". The most base of English interpretations means 'happy', but is more commonly translated as "blessings". A huge difference between the two terms is that happiness comes from earthly things but blessedness can come only from God. And, Jesus never bestowed blessings arbitrarily; He typically gave the reason and circumstances behind each beatitude. This enables us to possess deeper understanding and enrichment in the validity and strength of each blessing.
Christ's blessings are given in Matthew, chapter 5, with additional blessings given at other times and places. No part of Christ's Gospel is conceived by human device or discovery. It is not from the carnal reasoning of man, no matter how refined, educated or insightful. It contains "what eye has not seen, nor ear heard". The Gospel is a revelation from God, consisting of truths given by the Spirit of God to men. Humankind, if left to the force of reason and the light of nature, would have been ignorant of, and never able to discover these insights on our own. Likewise, since man functions on a carnal level, we cannot accept this truth unless our heart is opened by God to receive and believe. And by having 'blinders' removed, we are able to embrace the Gospel and acknowledge that it is revealed from heaven by God; that God is indeed Christ's Father; that Jesus is the Son and Messiah which by nature illuminates His own deity; and that all Christ's doctrines and teachings are pure, divine revelation!
By believing this Gospel, we 'cross over' to where our mind is enabled to more clearly reason with true spiritual insight, over-riding our hazy carnal thoughts. We are metamorphosed to where we know there is not only a true living God but through adoption, He becomes our heavenly Father! We learn that our new Father is discoverable by the light of nature; He gives being, life, breath, and all things to His creatures; He has a Son who is His equal and has the same nature as Him; and that through His Son, salvation is generously given to lost sinners, of whom the entire world is rightly classified, and of which we personally acknowledge.
As we meditate upon these beatitudes from God, let's humbly search our heart to see if the individual blessing apply to us, and if not, what can we do to be spiritually receptive so we can receive it. The most important thing to remember is, that as we are blessed by God; as we grow into the person He desires us to be; and as we in turn are used by Him to be a blessing to those around us, we must move away from being centered on self to being focused on other

(Verse 1)
Blessed are the poor in spirit.
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are all those who mourn.
For they shall be highly comforted.
Blessed are the peacemakers.
For they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are the low and meek.
For they shall inherit the kingdom of earth.
(Verse 2)
Blessed are the merciful. Compassionate and extending grace.
For they shall obtain our Lord's mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart. Avoiding any corrupt ways.
For they shall see our Lord and our God.
Blessed are all those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
For they shall be filled with God's Spirit.
(Chorus)
Have love for your enemies, do good to those who may hate you.
Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Treat others the same as the way you want them to treat you.
If you love those who love you, what good is that to you?
(Verse 3)
Blessed are you when people insult you. Saying things that are not true.
Rejoice and be glad. Your reward is great in heaven.
Blessed are the persecuted. Because of their righteousness.
Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who testify that Christ is the Son of the living God.
This has been shown to you by My Father above.
(Chorus)
God is so good. His love extends to you and me.
All we need is to give this love to others.
God is so great. His love is given to you and me.
All He asks is we have love for one another.
(Repeat Chorus to Fade)
God is so good. His love extends to you and me.
All we need is to give this love to others.
God is so great. His love is given to you and me.
All He asks is we have love for one another.
