The Prophets Spoke Tonight
Men and women chosen by God to speak His truths and point the way to the coming Messiah. Transcending millennium with their message of grace, wrath, righteousness and sin... an unbelievable consistency separates their voice from the false prophets.
God's Word presented in song and verse.
in those quiet times spent alone with Him and in His Word. After nine years composing, arranging and recording... The Alpha & Omega Suite was finished at the end of 2008 and is ready for distribution in 2009! The Suite consists of thirty five parts which span two hours and forty minutes. This inspired music praises God and His Word; introduces His laws; His doctrines; His decrees; His covenants; and His grace to those who may never be exposed to His written Word otherwise. No glory, honor, or prestige is given to this earthly vessel, only to the One Who deserves it and is worthy of it!
Story behind the song
Of the various ways which God has chosen to reveal Himself and His will to humanity, the area which often generates the greatest skepticism is+when an individual claims to be a spokesperson for God. Just because a person claims to be expressing God's will doesn't mean that he actually is, and probably more often than not, he or she isn't! But according to skripture, God has at various times and places chosen an individual to express His will and desire so the rest of us might pay attention and listen! These people, known as 'prophets', have spanned centuries, various family backgrounds, social status, several cultures, adverse conditions, and yet have spoken with a consistency and doctrinal accuracy which flies in the face of changing thought patterns and whatever the currently accepted political correctness might be.
We should never be quick to dismiss the prophet's writings as ancient mythology... though their prophetic messages contained much information relevant primarily for the intended audience of their time, there's also an abundance of spiritual truths to benefit us all. One area which is important to us today is in the prophetic revelations regarding the coming Messiah! Their messages often contained insightful seeds pointing to Him, His work, His ministry, and His expectations of how we are to interact with one another. If we are to truly know Jesus, we should know what was written about Him before He appeared.
With so many false prophets scattered throughout history, how are we to determine who is a true spokesman for God and who is an delusional impostor? To answer this we must look at several areas where true prophets are distinguished from the false 'claim to be prophets'. These areas are in their: consistency (does their message and revelation of God align with what's already been proven and given in skripture); motive (are they speaking for personal gain, wealth and prestige or because God has sent them... no matter what the personal cost might be); miracles (is their message accompanied by works and events impossible to manifest fraudulently by any other means); revelations / special insight (including but not limited to: knowledge of future events, outcome of current conditions, unrevealed personal information about others, hidden motives in others, knowledge of desires and spiritual alliance in others); divine message (it's importance, it's Godly source instead of coming from the prophet's own making, is it accepted or rejected by other prophets, do the wicked embrace it); deity accuracy (consistent with God's self-revealed traits as opposed to traits attributed to false gods); humility (their purpose is to elevate God, not themselves); benefit to others (are they looking out for their own interests or the interests of others, are they denouncing sinful behavior instead of approving it). Criteria such as these should always be applied to any who make such claims, we can't be too careful!
Though the prophets focused on the nation of Israel and their unique relationship and genealogy with the coming Messiah, understanding that nation's history is relevant to all people. Their unique relationship with God affects both the Jew and the Gentile, the pre BC and the post BC nations, and the saved and the unsaved alike. We are all in this boat together. We "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". We all need to give an open ear to what the prophets shared!
The majority of Old Testament prophecy concerns Israel's continual rebellious spiritual condition and how God must deal with that condition. By seeing ourselves in Israel's actions, it helps us better understand our own spiritual weakness and failures. By identifying with the people who the prophets spoke to, we are able to learn from them as we apply the prophet's warnings on a personal level.
The 'Prophets Spoke Tonight' doesn't focus on just one prophet but collectively lumps them all together as a group. By doing so, the song cover

(Verse 1)
The prophets spoke tonight but we never would listen to them.
As they declared the word of the Lord. Announcing freely what we could not afford.
Proclaiming truth that just might hurt. Cleanse our heart, get rid of the dirt.
The present is the time to begin. Admit all wrong and get rid of our sin.
Turn from doubt to full belief. Gaining hope instead of grief.
So many prophets from a bunch of centuries. Unveiling God's nature to show you and me.
We never liked the words they said. So we silenced them until they were dead.
With a message so thoroughly consistent. Given to an audience so hostile and resistant.
Righteousness must start to increase. As spoken right from God's mouthpiece.
Don't embrace the dark. Turn to the light. As the prophets speak tonight.
Those holy men don't reside on some high peek.
Their message is meant for the strong or the weak.
Proclaiming truths which God has revealed.
Making known things which once were concealed.
Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zephaniah, Micah, Daniel, Nahum, and Jonah.
False prophets say what makes us feel good.
Claim to speak for God but not as they should.
Not sent by the Spirit's commission. Causing harm as they go on their mission.
Don't care about those things which God has prepared.
We will decide if it's what He's declared.
We'd rather not be with the Lord. Than give-up pleasures which come from the world.
We're missing what's about to unfurl. As the prophets speak tonight.
Give us the false, please tickle our ear. Words that offend we don't want to hear.
We must change the direction we're going. As the prophets are clearly showing.
We compromise as the world does sway. With each generation we fall further away.
Don't shut your eyes. See what is clear. That the maker of all things is coming here.
With prophecies so accurately shown. So the Lord of hosts might be known.
The prophets prompt us to get back on track. They speak words from God which turn into fact.
Over and over and over they taught. A battle does rage to control our thought.
Habakkuk, Zechariah, Ho- sea, Obadiah, Amos, Malachi, Joel, and Haggai.
The prophets spoke tonight but we never would listen to them.
The prophets spoke tonight but we never would listen to them.
The prophets spoke tonight but we never would listen to them.
