Story behind the song
Fred wrote the lyrics to this because he realized (Like I had years before) that he was just Pondscum. There really is a house on the island that used to be all pink but it isn't anymore. They still call it the pink house????
Lyrics
Pondscum Words: Fred Elkins & Charles MacConnach Music: Charles MacConnach Copyright date: April 1, 2002 Verse 1 South of Turners North of the pond Spending time trying To write this song I either leave too early or stay too long I finally figured out what’s right is wrong I’ve been gone too long Chorus Going to the north end have a little fun Going to the north end drink a little rum Nothings ending It’s all begun In the end we’re all pondscum Verse 2 Going to the pond From Cat and Dale’s Just a couple miles to Old Whales Tail Exuma sun turns you dark from pale Diving for conch and looking for bales You know it never fails Repeat Chorus Verse 3 The pink house is yellow But that’s ok I never cared for John’s pink houses anyway They might paint it blue or let it ride But we all know it’s pink inside It’s all pink on the inside Repeat Chorus
