Dig it
by Gary Wickizer 2-5-07
(Chorus) Can you dig it? Can you dig it?
We lived on this land since time began
taking just what we needed that was the plan.
Always left some for another day
Didn’t think about it, that was the way.
Generations came and went
the land mostly good it was never spent
gave us what we needed for food and health
we had no money we just had wealth.
(Chorus)
From a distant land came another tribe
Filling our heads with a gold toothed bribe.
With smiling faces we were told
They’d take our wealth and give us gold.
(chorus) + well water you gonna do?
Trees were the 1st to go
Plowed our land into rows
Tractors traded for our plows
Brought seed for us to sow.
(Chorus)
This went on for several years
Land dried up, blew away from here
Gold toothed tribe disappeared
Leaving us a sky with no tears.
(chorus)
well water you gonna do?
Sink that hole I’m thirsty too.
(vamp around the choruses to take it out)
