Gentle ballad.
Written in memory of Paul Wellstone, this song was first recorded on the THE LEFT IS RIGHT but I was never totally happy with the recording. I redid the song in my friend Phil King's studio, and this features me on guitars, Phil on bass, and "Kebs" (a bandmate of Phil's) on drums. We got the nice, relaxed feel that allowed me to sing this like I wanted to.
I never look for, and I never try
To find an answer or a reason why
I don't know, I don't know
Another warrior meets an end
In the b;link of an eye you're gone my friend
And I don't know, I don't know
I can't see any way out
Except to spread your love near and far
You saw beyond the mere touch of the man
And became a messenger of love
Feed the poor, we must care for all
Because all are equal, all are equal under God's laws
And it's so hard, it's so hard
To carry on without you
I put my faith in all I think and all I see and all I do
And it's so hard, it's so hard
