A song I wrote in high school. Not the best quality recording, sorry about that...
solo acoustic, light rock.
Hi everyone.
Story behind the song
I wrote it sitting outside my high school on a warm spring day... I usually write poetry when I'm feeling kinda low, and this song is an example of that. I'm sure if I analyzed it enough there'd be a story behind the lyrics, but as of right now, your take on it is probably as good or better than mine!
Lyrics
Scared little children
Sitting on the lawn
Singing of a time
When their songs will be long gone
All the little children
Perish in the light
The light that is so bright
Shining through the darkest night
Piercing through the screams
A lonely voice cries out
It cries and cries and cries
But we cannot hear it shout
A voice amongst the crowd
A single lonely voice
Crying to be heard
Yet crying out of fright
As soon as it arose
Suddenly it fades away
Never to be heard again
--But just what did it say?
Millions of children
Crying in the night
Afraid of what has happened
Afraid of what still might
Scared little children
--Someone take them in!
Their precious little lives
Still waiting to begin
Sacred little children
Help them sing their song
Help them paint the pictures
Still waiting to be drawn.
