Story behind the song
This song was written by one of Shetlands most prestigious song writers following the Wrecking of the Braer oil tanker at Sumburgh in Shetland. We could smell the fumes in the air in Whalsay and all the way to Unst 70+ miles away. But due to the wonderful storm lashing the islands for days, the damage was far less that we ever could have hoped for. The children of the Mid Yell Junior School asked if their teacher would go to Mary and ask if she would write lyrics for her original tune 'Another Drumbeat' honoring the disaster.
