July fishing trip with friends
Aint No Fish In Canada
©2008 Karl Hecky
Come on everybody grab your fishing gear, we’re heading up to Canada, were gona drink some beer.
Weaving through the traffic, Eddy leads the way. Across that old
Peace Bridge as we leave the U.S.A.
Did I forget to mention, a stop at the duty store, beer we had plenty but you can always use some more.
(chorus)
Cause there aint no fish in Canada only rocks and roots and flies.
Mosquito’s chew your flesh, trees grow on one side.
Despite its rugged landscape a beauty lies within.
Where else can a bunch of guys share their moons,
The sun the wind.
Joeys’ hero sandwich and burritos filled us up, once again we’d man the boats, go out and try our luck.
Morgan was the captain of our barge that fishless day, as we headed up the river just across from Thompsons Bay.
Hot dogs on the shoreline Bahama Mamas one or two.
A chance to swim the waters or just enjoy the view.
(chorus)
Cause there aint no fish in Canada only rocks and roots and flies.
Mosquito’s chew your flesh, trees grow on one side.
Despite its rugged landscape a beauty lies within.
Where else can a bunch of guys share their moons,
The sun the wind.
Greg and John were cooking, up their favorite spuds, taking in the scenery and soaking up some suds.
Anxious for a fish fry we all were on our own, then John came up with walleye, I think he brought those fish from home.
(chorus)
Cause there aint no fish in Canada only rocks and roots and flies.
Mosquito’s chew your flesh, trees grow on one side.
Despite its rugged landscape a beauty lies within.
Where else can a bunch of guys share their moons,
The sun the wind.
No there aint no fish in Canada,
There aint no fish no lie.
Oh there aint no fish in Canada,
hope I’ll see you next July.
