First portion of a very personal two-piece set of songs I've recently wrote. Much more melodic than my past works. Update Jan 4th '04 - third mix posted. Now with VOCALS! Ow, woo. Check it out.
purgatory nj thrash metal
A melodic-thrash metal band in Southern Jersey that perfectly combines melody, aggression, and a progressive edge. Thoughtful/introspective lyrics and a geniun
Purgatory is a melodic-thrash metal band that has literally been trapped in it's own namesake for about 2 years. Now with set members, a new found creativity and alot of drive - things are on the upturn. A first in a series of many demos leading up to an EP, shows coming in, and many other progressing events occuring are all signs that our love for music is finally starting to return the favors.

Story behind the song
The motivation is that the world isn't always as serene as you make it out to be. Sometimes when reality kicks in, it hurts that much more because of what you used to think. Extremely depressed. Part 2 in the 'series', "Revelation" has far more closure.
Lyrics
My eyes cannot believe what they see It's closer now for the lies of fallen faiths This pain (it's stabbing me) I'm a victim of society Why am I forced to live without a face and broken dreams? Why? Is the question I ask. Why can't I be free? CHORUS How is it true that I'm living this way again? How can it be that my fate never was in my hands? I was dreaming of things that were not meant for me I am trapped here, alone, can't you help me I'm screaming This was my life You stole from me These were my dreams My blasphemy This was my country Who fed me these beliefs Land of the free Fueled by it's greed Disguised through wealth and power It gleams like a blackened stone Now I realize everything isn't what it seems Damnation was promised to me My creator looks down upon my soul Is this eternal? When can I break free? Philosophy - existentialism failed - life is but a dream Repeat CHORUS I feel my world is changing It's collapsing from the core These things I cannot feel Will haunt me forever more The sands of time are burning And mine is running out I have to take control of this My destiny is gone Solo - Bubeck
