Story behind the song
Years ago Dana and I would go to Karaoke at the local pub... this one woman would jump up with an incredible, deluded ego, singing with people who just didn't want a backup singer!! She inspired this song... I first played this song with "Bonafide", and later with "TopHeavy Cat". Lyrics
You always wanted to sing country Be a star, a specialty I bought you a bouquet of flowers You were at the bar for hours! You think that all your friends are fans Come to see you from across the land Headline reads, and it's swell Karaoke Queen, you sound like hell (CHORUS) I always wanted a reggae queen I cannot take this karaoke scene You look quite good after a pint But you sound like two dogs in a fight She's so slow to grasp it all No one home to take the call Let me put it another verse My life was hell, when she tried to rehearse: "Some Say La" It's rough shackin with a celebrity I gotta go out, I gotta be free When I go out I'm recognized Karaoke Queen, it's you I despise (CHORUS) (SOLO) (PSYCHEDELIA) It's been six months since I let her go She doesn't even seem to know She's too caught up in all the hype She's deluded, not my type Her fame is growing quicker though She's a bar room one girl show Looking back, she ain't no diva Glad I found the time to leave ya (CHORUS OUT)
