A song about a little cherub who couldn't keep out of trouble, but he found a special place in the Lord's eyes. A symbol of many of us. :-)
I wrote this driving hom from practice at a freind's house. I was thinking about my grandson.
Crooked Little Halo
There was a little cherub with smudges on
his face,
Crooked little halo, buttons out of place.
Had a thousand snowballs gathered in a pile.
Liked to wade in puddles, he wore a happy smile.
He talked when he shouldn't, like when his
mouth was full.
When other said push, he'd forget and try to pull.
When other cherubs saw him, they liked to tease
and say.
"You have a crooked halo," then they would fly
away
Chorus:
He had a...
Crooked little halo, buttons out of place,
Two different shoes and smudges on his face,
The Lord said, "I love him, he is a special boy.
His little heart is pure and he brings me lots of
joy.
Verse Two
Jumping rope and skipping, patches on his
knee,
Shooting with his squirt gun, climbing every tree.
Thick tousled hair that could always use a brush,
Busy little cherub, always in a rush.
That happy little angel, mischief in his eye.
Running through the clouds and flying much too
high.
Bicycle chain and his wings need repair
Ear and arm missing on his favorite teddy bear.
Verse Three
Squirming with impatience, speaking out of turn,
Asks a million questions, always wants to learn.
Playing games and swinging, catching worms and bugs.
Quite a little lover, gives the tightest hugs.
Lollipops and candy, ice cream in a cone,
Model cars and pickups all his very own.
Riding broomstick broncos, likes to play pretend,
Lots of bumps and bruises, always on the mend.
