a short, punchy song protesting the dark side of music (all the depressing, destructive, violent stuff thrown at us by the cocaine-intoxicated music industry starting in the late 80's) - a rejection of destructiveness and an invitation to live

Story behind the song
This is a song with a very young attitude in protest of that which suppresses life and good music. It's about getting away from the negativity and enjoying life. This song was first written for my band PANARCHY in 1993 - but then it was totally lost! So I decided to try to recover it. I had to re-write this in 2008 from memory - nothing could be found of the original song! But the song came back to me and I found I was able to re-write the lyrics to capture even better, the spirit and intent of the original song.
Lyrics
I JUST WANT TO BE THERE Spring 1993 Dallas TX, Jan 2008 Costa Rica In the fields life is living and giving our every breath But the dirty city lurks - its machinery works its ugly death Naysayers, betrayers the players all work their crime But I'm coming to find it's worse than wasted time it's wasted time! -I want to plug into the synergy (and be there) -I want to feel a better energy (and be there) Life is beginning to sing - and I just want to be there The coming season is Spring - I'll always want to be there You went looking for thrills in the kills out back, I heard Left your soul in a hole of which you will not speak a word But now you force your attacks - won't relax - had to change my song (I'm fascinated!) Our culture's melting away - can't even say what's right or wrong (what's right? - what's wrong?!?) -I want to plug into the synergy (and to be there) -I want to feel a better energy (and be there) Life is beginning to sing - and I just want to be there The coming season is Spring - I'll always want to be there I Just Want to Be There - 2008 - Scott Gordon
