I came up with the opening chords, welded them together with the lyrics from an unfinished song, used the bridge and instrumental break from another unfinished song. The chorus was something that popped into my head about six months earlier. For all of the different elements, it came together pretty seamlessly.
I remember the summer wind
Blowing your hair into your eyes
I remember the taste of your kiss
Beneath the warm azure skies
You made me feel a way I never had before
You took what I had 'til there wasn't anymore
I remember the sound of your voice
And the grass stains on your dress
Being with you was the closest I've come
To being happy, more or less
You seem to disappear right before my eyes
Or is that just how you look when you're cut down to size
And the first thing in the morning
I'll tell you what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna pick myself up
Shake myself down
And try to forget about you
You seem to disappear right before my eyes
Or is that just how you look when you're cut down to size
And the first thing in the morning
I'll tell you what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna pick myself up
Shake myself down
And try to forget about you
