A song for my children teaching them about Hate and the harm it does the world

When you were born you didn’t know how to hate
Came into the world an innocent soul with a clean slate
As you grew up and then you looked around the schoolyard
You went to make new friends then they called you ugly names and hit you hard
You came to crying the tears roll down your face
Broke my heart to tell you but I think they’ve already learned to hate
I never taught you about hate so you didn’t know, you couldn’t relate
You asked me why some people.....feel this way
I wish you didn’t have to know about the hatred some people feel
But they learn it from somewhere and to them it’s all too real
So as you walk through life remember to avoid
People who hate their fellow man and are want to destroy

Something we have to live with.....can’t eliminate
And haters will never listen to what you say

Agree to spend billions on a military offense
They’d have you believe that this...is a path to Peace
All the while ignoring other people’s needs

Beware of corporate media news…..reports on war
They’ll treat it like a sports game and just keep score
They’ll give it some ridiculous name and hype it in primetime
Gotta keep the sponsors happy and meet the bottom line
Don’t even bother anymore to tell the people what’s wrong
The days of good night and good luck are now long gone

Singing out about ending war will never pay the bills
But it's very important and I hope you always will
Because it's not about money, fortune or fame
It's about keeping hope alive that people can change
So take these lessons you've learned and pass them on
Go out in the world and sing your songs
Let a new generation hear your voice
