I was treated badly by this girl. I hated women for a while. You really do hurt the ones who care about you the most. (I don't think she gave two sh*ts about me but just go with it). I was angry and this was the angriest thing I could come with.
This was the second song I wrote on my guitar. I wrote it within a couple months of picking up the guitar for the first time at age 11, in the summer of 1992.
I was dating this girl from New Jersey who moved to Maryland. As it turns out she was playing me for a fool. I thought she was cheating on me when actually she was cheating with me on someone else, her fiance. I really thought I loved her. Now, I'm sure it was just infatuation.
An angel fell from the sky...I told her she was this.
This is the second recorded version of the song. The music is slightly different but mainly the same. The lyrics changed in a few spots.
You will probably never here the older version.
And as I walk through the door
The ceiling leaves my heart unto the floor--
A sacrifice for your young war
Which you cannot win but do ignore.
It’s all the same to you it seems to me
Or is it all the same to me because you see
You weren’t the first to make me bleed...
Its nice to know you don’t have what I need.
What could you say that I’d believe?
And so we go our separate ways...
Today I’ve lost another friend
Never, never again
And no I won’t let you in.
Oh, not again!.
An angel fell from the sky.
She hit her head and now she wonders why
She has hurt this nicest guy.
Let her wonder why.
It seems you hurt the ones who care.
The ones who don’t you try to please
And then you wonder why you are there;
Now you lose that dare.
Today I’ve lost another friend
Never, never again
And no I won’t let you in.
Oh, not again!.
Today I’ve lost another friend
Never, never again
And no I won’t let you in.
Never again!
