Story behind the song
This is a song about depression.
Lyrics
Standing by the roadside I see A hundred faces every single day. Some I recognise, some are strangers to me. How many I wonder pay the price. Bridge: Looking at the sky - falling down. Looking at the ground - closer now. Some think money's a joke 'cos they got so much. Though I don't hear people laughing anymore. Well I know they're here, I'm not out of touch. But do they know what my fight was for? Bridge Chorus: Cry for one hundred years. Sunshine reflect my tears. Reading between the lines This will happen a thousand times. How can I find my own way? To live one cloudless day! Does this mean that I'm alone? Just because I hear them speaking. And I wonder why it's all in the same tone, As the man on the radio preaching. Bridge. I know now that it's not the same As living with the fear of another day. But with all the stories bringing back my pain, I don't want to but I know I have to stay. Bridge. Chorus. And how it seems so long ago, Those long, hot summer nights. We ran through the streets; trying to believe. The rains replaced the fire; no more make-believe. I remember falling, From the branches to the land. We stood about laughing, bringing tears to our eyes. How could it all end? Solo Chorus x 2.
