Story behind the song
Down at Jst Van Dyke, I imagined life on the island and how even in a paradise real life will get in the way.
Lyrics
Island Daze (Martin Buchanan) Get up slow and take a stroll out to the sandy key Fall into a hammock deep in the shadow of a mango tree Lie on my back and then watch the catamarans floating by Feel the tropical wind tickle my skin under a clear blue sky Chorus ISLAND DAZE Who cares what time it is ISLAND DAZE A beer with lime in it Oh pass me one and when it’s done pour me some rum And let me drift away Let me drift away In my ISLAND DAZE I got here two years three months and seven days ago A broken suitcase a beat up guitar and a wounded soul Some say I’m running, some say I’m hiding, some just shake their heads In a place this pretty it’s always a pity when I can’t get out of bed Repeat Chorus Bridge With every sunrise I realize that I’m lost at sea The day she left me was my shipwreck and I washed up on this beach Maybe some day I’ll sail away with a bikini-wearing stranger But with glass in hand and no actual plan there isn’t any danger

Very Kenny in the first verse, but deeper in the others. Perfect sound though, this could kill at the key west festival!! And the chorus is ripe for sing-alongs.
