Observation of a man's broken heart.
Stephanie Raymond solo artist working on her first CD. Great music, great vocals, modern lyrics.
I was born and raised in Michigan and began writing music and playing guitar as a freshman in high school. Now, as a freshman in college, I am working on the release of my first album with producer Chip Stead and my father, Rod Raymond.
Lyrics
(Rodney Raymond)
When the music was played, by the band at the tavern,
Nine to one, every Saturday night.
From the back of the dim room, I'd watch from my table,
And see a most beautiful sight.
A handsome man and his lady, dressed for the occasion,
Would take to the floor and dance.
You could see they were lovers, holding on to each other,
And not just a weekend romance.
Now that she's gone, anytime that I see him,
At the edge of the dance floor he'll stand.
And when he drinks enough whiskey, his feet will start moving,
To the dance of a lonely man.
They would kick up their heels, as they moved round the dance floor,
Waltzing in three quarter time.
Always light on their feet, never missing a beat,
Like a dream that most never find.
They would leave about midnight, never saying goodbye,
Slip away through the crowd and go home.
I didn't know 'till the next time, when I saw him again,
Without her he'd dance all alone.
Now that she's gone, anytime that I see him,
At the edge of the dance floor he'll stand.
And when he drinks enough whiskey, his feet will start moving,
To the dance of a lonely man.
Now it's been quite a while, since I've seen her with him,
And it doesn't seem right, but he keeps coming' in…
He sits all alone, and I don't understand,
Why he's taken the ring off his hand…
Now that she's gone, anytime that I see him,
At the edge of the dance floor he'll stand.
And when he drinks enough whiskey, his feet will start moving,
To the dance of a lonely man.
And with tears fallen down, as he moved round and round,
Holding memories in his open hand.
He passes me by, and I can't help but cry,
To the dance of a lonely man.
To the dance of a lonely man.
