Slow, sad, melancholic with a truly passionate vocal performance
songwriter
Humble Country Songwriter.
Just a humble songwriter. First and foremost, a Tune-smith, I suppose. Yes, somehow, melodies just pop into my head, from, like, nowhere, man! Of course, to turn a melody into an actual song, it has to have a set of lyrics - but lyric-writing, for me, is more like "work". Contrast that with composing a melody - man, its such a buzz when you think you've come up with a half-decent new tune.

Story behind the song
One of the very first songs I ever wrote and something like only the third or fourth song we ever demo'ed. Its quite haunting melody helped get us a contract from the V.P. of the ECMA (no less) but, somehow, the song didn't make it onto the album that I was subsequently asked to write. Thinking about it, as I sit here, it's coming back to me - the publisher thought that Billy Ray Cyrus might take offence so he didn't want us to put it on the album ... Let me assure you, the song is certainly NOT about him.
Lyrics
Billy Ray Heard them say “Ain’t no big dee-ee-eal … Give her time, guess she’ll get by” So don’t you say “Know how you fee-ee-eel” ‘Cause boy right now, wish I could die Chorus Don’t understand this crazy race You and me, watched them fall Just hand in hand, from place to place You and me, we did it all Bridge In those dark and early days with all the bruisers We took the rough with lots more rough … And came out strong Way back then you thought the game was just for losers We knew nothing way back then … But right from wrong Billy Ray, where’s your integrity? Have a ball – no one to fear You chose the day when you walked out on me Most of all, still want you here Chorus Take the hand that hides the face You an’ me … one last call Just take my hand, it’s no disgrace You and me, we did it all We did it all We did it all You … and … mee-ee-ee
