Story behind the song
Music and lyrics by Debbie Nicodemus Arranged by Sanny Gardon Performed by Debbie Nicodemus Recorded at Access 2 MYusik Recording Studio Mixed and mastered by Debbie Nicodemus and Sanny Gardon Published by Access 2 MYusik Co. The 25th of December was an entry for a Christmas-themed songwriting contest in the Philippines in November 2006. Unfortunately, it didn’t make the cut. A year after, I decided to improve the song both lyrically and melodically. Inspired by the strong ties among members of every Filipino household, the song showcases the truth, from the profound anticipation to be home during Christmas down to the superficial yet quintessential toys and chocolates that add spark and excitement to the season. I sincerely dedicate this special song to my relatives abroad and to Filipinos all over the world whose days and nights are filled with hardships just to ensure a better life for their families back home. – Debbie Nicodemus SONGWRITER'S PROFILE Debbie is a young businesswoman determined to make a lasting mark in the local music industry. Lyrics
The 25th of December (Debbie Nicodemus) I Sparkling lights do seem a whole lot brighter Jingle bells do sound so much better Days and nights are possibly warmer In a special place, somewhere II As I see the snowflakes through my window And feel the breeze as I lay on my pillow Thoughts return in the form of midnight shadow But they bring me comfort ‘cause I know Chorus: On the 25th of December I’ll be home After all the hardships and loneliness outgrown No matter where I go, up high or down below I’ll always remember to spend with you the 25th of December III Mom and dad I can’t wait for your embraces And to see the smile written on your faces Tell little sister I’ll bring toys and chocolates no less With all the love I can express Chorus: On the 25th of December I’ll be home After all the hardships and loneliness outgrown No matter where I go, up high or down below I’ll always remember to spend with you the 25th of December Instrumental Chorus: On the 25th of December I’ll be home After all the hardships and loneliness outgrown No matter where I go, up high or down below I’ll always remember to spend with you the 25th of December Coda: No matter where I go, up high or down below I’ll always remember to spend with you the 25th of December Oooooooh
